Identification

A city builder that walks through real historical eras with a light research tree and a small tactical battle screen that is closer to a puzzle than a war. Allied cities in other cultures open up in the middle game. Nobody attacks you and nothing you build can be lost, which is the single most important field mark for a new player.

Observed

Short visits, two or three a day, and always a timer about to finish. The browser and the app share one account, so the second visit was usually on a phone. By the fourth era the battle screen repeats itself and the alliance layer is thin; this is a gentle game and does not pretend otherwise.

Diet

Gems buy speed and decorations. In three weeks we never felt pushed, and nothing in the shop was needed to keep moving.

Range

Peaceful, patient, new to the genre. The best first builder on this site; experienced players will want Forge of Empires within a month.

Field marks

  • No player can attack you
  • Something finishes every twenty minutes
  • Runs on an old laptop
  • Battle screen repeats by the fourth era
  • Thin alliance layer

Not to be confused with Forge of Empires (older, larger, slower, same publisher).
